Volleyball
The philosophy is to teach the game of life through volleyball. That means reinforcing what it means to be a good teammate; continuing education, valuing and nurturing the mental aspects of the game with the help of a sports psychologist; and emphasizing clear communication and a tireless work ethic.
MAC's Volleyball coaches keep it fun, strive to open players' horizons, and help them grow as people and players regardless of their end goal. Video analysis, team training across the club's facilities, and the support of coaches and families all are part of the program.

MAC Teams Explained
MAC Volleyball Team Commitment Levels
Elite Teams
Our highest level of competition. Elite teams practice 2–3 times per week and compete in a combination of regional and national tournaments, including multi-day events that may require air travel. Athletes are expected to commit to a rigorous training and travel schedule, maintain high attendance at practices, and demonstrate strong dedication to skill development, physical conditioning, and team success.
Premier Teams
Premier teams practice twice per week and compete in a mix of regional power leagues, local tournaments, and select multi-day events that may require limited travel. Athletes will train at a competitive pace, balancing skill progression with game strategy, while maintaining consistent attendance and commitment throughout the season.
Select Teams
Select teams practice 1–2 times per week and primarily participate in regional power leagues and local friendship tournaments. This level offers a competitive experience with a reduced travel schedule, making it a great fit for athletes balancing other sports or activities while still wanting to develop their volleyball skills and compete in a team environment.

Team Levels
Elite/National Teams
These teams consist of advanced/experienced athletes looking for a high level of play. They attend more competitive traveling tournaments and consist of training 2-3 times per week in addition to tournaments. Travel tournaments can be anywhere in the U.S. These teams also compete in CEVA Power Leagues and Regionals, as well as some friendship tournaments in the region. Great for players who want a lot of exposure to a high level of play and opportunities for college recruitment.
Intermediate/Regional teams
These teams consist of athletes with 1-2 years of competitive team experience who are looking for a high level of play, but are still developing skills and knowledge of the game. These teams are also great for athletes who are passionate about the sport, but are not ready to commit to a national team travel schedule. These teams typically train 2 times per week and compete in local CEVA Power Leagues and Regionals, as well as other friendship tournaments in the NW region (locations range anywhere from Ridgefield, WA to Eugene, OR).
Developmental/Local teams
These teams consist of athletes that are at a beginner level and are new to club volleyball. Ideal for athletes and families that do not want to travel and are looking for consistent practice and a mild tournament schedule. These teams typically train 2 times per week and compete in local CEVA Power Leagues and Regionals (locations range anywhere from Ridgefield, WA to Eugene, OR).
MAC Volleyball Coaches
2024-25 coaching & team assignments will be announced later this fall!Danielle Kellis - Head Coach
With over seven years of coaching experience spanning beginner to adult levels, Dani brings a dynamic blend of leadership, technical expertise, and athlete-focused development to her role as Club Volleyball Director at the Multnomah Athletic Club.
Now entering her fourth season with MAC, Dani has worn many hats within the volleyball program, serving not only as a coach but also as the strength and conditioning lead for volleyball and a personal trainer specializing in sports performance. Most recently, she led the 16-1 team to a #1 regional ranking in 2025, exemplifying her ability to develop high-performing teams built on trust, discipline, and competitive excellence.
Dani’s coaching philosophy is grounded in five core values: grit and resilience, fostering growth mindset, compassion, accountability, and a commitment to developing well-rounded athletes and individuals. She is passionate about cultivating a culture where players feel supported both on and off the court, and where success is measured not only by wins, but by character and growth.
What excites Dani most about leading the MAC volleyball program is the unmatched sense of community. “This volleyball family is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Our athletes have access to world-class coaching, strength and conditioning resources, personalized lessons, and state-of-the-art facilities, but more importantly, they’re part of a close-knit program where every player is known and supported.”
As Head Coach, Dani is committed to maintaining the MAC standard of excellence while continuing to elevate the experience for every athlete who walks through the gym doors.
