MAC admissions are based on a lottery system, and applicants are proposed by members. A lottery is held every few years (with the next one expected in 2020), and membership applications currently are limited to legacy members, spouses of members, and Diversity Admissions Program invitees.

Diversity Admissions candidates are nominated by members, and must meet the Diversity Admissions Program criteria and be approved by the Board of Trustees.
